Hello!
I am Shashank and I am currently a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Kentucky majoring in Computer Science with a focus in Natural Language Processing (Relation Extraction, Q&A, and Sentiment Analysis). Also, I am a Graduate Research Assistant, working on Relation Extraction in the Biomedical Domain.
In the past, I have worked as a Software Developer at Accenture, India for more than 3 years (Oct 2017 - Dec 2020) where I met a lot of people and made good connections with great leaders. I am best known as the guy with innovative ideas and great problem-solving skills among my coworkers and friends.
I completed my B.tech in Information Technology from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi, India (2013 - 2017). I did a few internships during my undergrad as a Java Developer and Machine Learning Intern. I participated in various events both as a planner and as a contestant. Here I met a lot of students and people from different places and languages and learned the importance of working in an environment with diversity and observing things from different perspectives.
In my spare time, I usually read news about the latest tech inventions around the world, and think of the ways I can contribute to society. I love reading the latest research papers to implement them to the existing problems.
To summarize, I can work well both individually and as part of a team, performing complicated tasks within project restrictions and under time constraints. I am familiar with a range of programming languages and feel that adaptation is extremely essential, thus I am usually able to start working on a new project (even in a new language) in a short amount of time. Throughout my career, I hope to develop new and unique tools and services that will have an influence on the world of computers.
Skills: Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Software Engineering, Python, R, Java, C/C++, .NET, C#, Bash, Keras, PyTorch, TensorFlow, HTML, CSS, PL/SQL, Splunk Analytics, Endur.

On the personal front, I hail from a humble family where values and education have been one's most important assets. Since my childhood, I was encouraged by my parents to learn. So, when the computers arrived in India, my parents got me one despite their limited income. My own personal computer got me intrigued to see how these interfaces function. I wanted to learn everything about the fascinating machine. Hailing from a middle-class Indian family, I knew education and perseverance were my only tickets to convert my dreams into a reality. We were a family of five, including my two elder sisters, and were solely dependent on my father’s income, who was a government employee. It was the constant support of my family and my determination to reach where I am standing today.
Apart from all the above said, I was on my school volleyball team and played several intra-state matches. I was also a member of the GREEN GOLD CLUB 🌲 during my high school where I planted more than 100 trees in the neighborhood and was also awarded for the same. My first ever achievement as a responsible citizen towards society. Click here to know me more beyond academics.
